Our biodiversity gains are already many – the tui are back, the Mainland’s only titi colony is protected and growing, ruru (Morepork), piwakawaka (fantail) korora (white flippered little blue penguin), hoiho (yellow eyed penguin), jewelled gecko, spotted skinks and the Banks Peninsula tree weta have legally protected habitat in which to flourish, and the community are engaged in taking care of our natural taonga.
